West Java Province is one of the provinces in Indonesia, enjoys
efficient road links which pass through spectacular panoramas of rugged
mountains, sparkling paddy fields, wild oceans and intimate holiday resorts. West
Java is also rapidly developing as an adventure sport alternative with white
water rafting, surfing, hang gliding, parachuting and mountain biking.
Visitors to Bandung
and West Java have a great number of fascinating and wonderful things to
see and do. The interesting places include Anak Krakatau which is all that was
left behind after one of the world loudest and violent volcanic explosions. The
volcano still rumbles, regularly sending plumes of thick black smoke high into
the air.
On the west coast is an undisturbed wildlife reserve at Ujung Kulon, home of the
Javan rhino. And off the north coast at Banten is the Pulau Dua bird sanctuary,
a great opportunity to admire herons and vast flocks of birds stopping off the
annual migration routes,
Discover the isolated communities of Baduy in the remote Halimun mountain
reserve right in the heart of Sunda. These hill tribe people have managed to
avoid outside influences including any form of motorized transport for
generations. Unspoilt beaches at Pangandaran on the south east of Bandung
and the famous botanical gardens of Bogor should be all be on any travel
itinerary plan when traveling to West Java.
Almost directly south of Jakarta
and west of Bandung is the popular harbour of the Queen of The
South Sea, Pelabuhan Ratu. Hotels, losmens, restaurants, nightclubs and bars
this normally sleep fishing village wakes up to cater for day travelers from Bandung
and Jakarta especially at weekends and on public holidays.
West Java is a much underrated and little explored region but its
proximity to Jakarta makes it the perfect destination for those looking
for a taste of what Indonesia
has to offer.
