Garuda Indonesia, The Airline of Indonesia
Garuda Indonesia is a national carrier of Indonesia, founded on 26 January 1949
and was named as Garuda
 Indonesia Airways. The first aircraft wast Douglas DC-3
known as Seulawah meaning the Golden Mountain. The airline is based in
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta with hubs in major airports
including Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Juanda International
Airport in Surabaya, Polonia International Airport in Medan, and Sepinggan
International Airport in Balikpapan. The company is owned by the Indonesia
Government with the total employee of more than 6,000.
Garuda Indonesia serves 21 domestic and 24 international flight destinations.
The international routes include Chennai, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong
Kong, Dubai, Jeddah, Ho Chi Minh City, Beijing, Karachi, Shanghai, Taipei,
Tokyo, Riyadh, Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland, London, Amsterdam, Paris, and
Frankfurt. Other international destinations are through code-share with China
Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Korean Air, Gulf Air,
Qatar Airways, Vietnam Airlines, and Philippine Airlines.
The domestic routes of Garuda Indonesia include Mataram, Balikpapan,
Banda Aceh, Bandung, Banjarmasin, Batam, Biak, Denpasar,
Jakarta, Jayapura,
Yogyakarta, Makassar, Manado, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Pekanbaru, Pontianak,
Semarang, Solo, Surabaya, and Timika.
The airlines operate 52 aircrafts; 3 Boeing 747-400, 6 Airbus A330-300, 2 Boeing
737-800, 19 Boeing 737-400, 17 Boeing 737-300, and 5 Boeing 737-500.
