Bali has a thriving and diverse nightlife across the whole of the south of Bali as well branching into the other holiday destinations including Ubud, Lovina and Singaraja. For some people, a tropical Bali holiday is all about avoiding the nightlife and for others it is about embracing it, Bali caters for both of these groups of people as well as those who like to find the middle ground. If you are interested in nightlife as one of the prime parts of your trip then the Kuta area including Legian and the far more sophisticated region of Seminyak. In places such as Nusa Dua and Ubud there is a more laid back and relaxed nightlife which focuses more on dinning and relaxed bars of excellent standards. You can enjoy everything from the super clubs of Kuta to the vibrant sophisticated clubs and bars of Seminyak as well as the incredible dinning that these areas offer.

Kuta offers a collection of clubs which are located very close together where Poppies II meets Jalan Legian. These clubs include the Bounty (a large club of dance and hip hop music with cheap drinks and many Australians), Paddies (a smaller version of the above), Sky Garden (an aptly named three floor European style club of dance music) and M Bar Go which plays hip hop. As well as these large clubs there is also a selection of lively bars such as espresso in the same area. This area is growing fast with some new rivals to these large clubs popping up all of the time including VIP and the Engine Room. In the outskirts of this area around the Poppies and Benesari area many budget restaurants and bars offering a more laid back approach or somewhere to warm up for the evening, there are many diamond amongst the rough of average bars in this area so hunt them out, find one you like and make friends with the staff.

Seminyak and the north of Legian offer a collection of smaller clubs with a more sophisticated feel, décor and music styles around here are less mainstream with world music and other niches supported. These bars are a great night out with many live performers although the prices are not that of the budget south of Kuta although they are still very cheap in comparison to western bars. Dinning in this area is excellent with a number of high class restaurants located right on the beach front offering incredible sunset dinning. There are many similar restaurants in Ubud, Nusa Dua and all of the other areas of Bali which offer international fare and incredibly luxurious atmospheres for the price of a good pub meal back at home. If you are interested in trying out a bit of Indonesian nightlife then there are a number o ‘Dangdut’ clubs which play extremely fast Indonesian Dance music and are located around Denpasar, they are certainly an experience to remember and are off the tourist trail. Karaoke is also popular with the locals and there are plenty of cinema, billiard and bowling complexes offering that international plug and play entertainment.
