Bali tourism has a history that dates back hundreds of years to the colonial times when and before that when the first traders began visiting Asia and the Spice Islands. Bali beautiful relaxed culture and landscapes where attractive to those in search of materials not for the trade purposes but for somewhere to relax and enjoy the interesting culture and the friendly welcoming people. Bali has a number of separate areas which have evolved both by themselves and with a little planning and organization. Firstly and possibly most famously is the Kuta district which includes Tuban is the south, Kuta and then to the north, Legian and Seminyak. Kuta is the budget paradise where you will find budget accommodation for backpackers, surfers and families alike, the top end of this market is generally towards the Tuban area. Legian is a more family orientated area and is a more up-market budget area and the Seminyak offers a more sophisticated atmosphere of villas and intimate bars and clubs. All of this is on the same coast just north of the airport and if you go further north you will find the boutique villas of Peti Tenget and Kerobokan where paddies and natural village surround luxurious villas located just half an hour from the action of Seminyak.

This is not for everyone there are also the east coast resort areas which also play a large part in Bali tourism such as Sanur, the original beach holiday location offering family and couples accommodation with flat waters and plenty of restaurants. Nusa Dua could be described as an up market version of Sanur and has its own security gate at the south-eastern most point of Bali and of course the cultural mountain paradise of Ubud for those who are more spiritual and in tune with nature. The north coast offers more intimate little beachside paradises and there are secluded alternative resorts in the mountains and the west Bali area. With all of the accommodation covered in Bali, Bali tourism also offers incredible facilities and activities including superb island hopping, world class surfing, diving and golf and a great nightlife. Bali has something for everyone and everyone will enjoy the culture and the diversity of the magical island of the gods.
